Our Story

Hello! I’m Bertran, but everyone calls me Bertie. Thanks for being here.

In 2024, after stepping away from my corporate job, I found myself spending more time in the kitchen cooking for my wife. One evening, I baked a Basque cheesecake for her based on an original Spanish recipe, and everything changed.

She loved it. I loved it. And I couldn’t stop making it.

What began as a one-off dessert turned into a ritual: late-night tweaks, new versions every week, friends dropping in for taste tests, and that moment when their faces lit up after the first bite.

That feeling became the spark behind Bertie’s Cheesecake.

After countless bakes to perfect our recipe, my wife suggested I take it to the local markets. We launched in December 2025 from our kitchen in St Neots. Still tiny, still entirely handmade.

Every single cheesecake is baked with immense care in small batches, using quality ingredients you can recognise, to achieve a soft, creamy centre that makes people pause and smile.

But this isn’t just about selling cheesecake.
It’s the beginning of something we’re building with you. A local, independent brand that grows through community and shared moments around great food.

Thank you for joining us at the very start.
Let’s see where this journey takes us, one cheesecake at a time.

We look forward to baking a great cheesecake you'll love soon !

Find Us in the Community

We are thrilled to be out on the road! Since January 2026, we’ve been popping up with fresh cheesecake slices at markets across Cambridge, St Neots, and Bedford. There is nothing we love more than meeting our fellow cheesecake fans in person.

Want to grab a slice? Check our market calendar here to see where Bertie’s will be next.
