Our Story

Hello!

My name is Bertran, but you can call me Bertie.

In 2024, after leaving my corporate job as a Hotel Portfolio Manager, I found myself spending more time in the kitchen — cooking for my wife. One day, I baked a Basque Cheesecake for her. She fell in love with it — and so did I.

What started as a simple dessert became a small ritual: tersting, tweaking, sharing slices with friends, and seeing their faces light up. That's how Bertie's Cheesecake was born.

At Bertie’s, we believe great things take time — and that’s exactly how we bake. Each Basque-style cheesecake is handmade in small batches here in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, using simple ingredients, locally sourced where possible, and a lot of care.

Slow-baked until golden and caramelised on top, with a soft, ceam centre — the kind of dessert that makes you pause and smile.

What began in our kitchen has grown into a mission to bake great cheesecakes people love. To share the comfort, connection, and joy that great food brings.

The illustration you see here was painted by my wife — it’s me and our Goldendoodle, Kiwi. A small reminder that everything we do here is personal, homemade, and full of heart.

Thank you for being part of our story — and for supporting a small, independent bakery, one cheesecake at a time.
